THE DEL FORNO JOBURG CLASSIC is a brand-new signature one-day road cycling race in the Cradle of Humankind, Gauteng focussed on supporting top performing South African Professional cyclists, through #SupportSATalent.

The race caters for all categories of licensed Cycling South Africa cyclists, as well as open/ seeded riders and there are three racing routes – 113km, 45km and 15km.

ABOUT THE ROUTE

The route has been designed to offer two shorter distances. Riders will be familiar with some sections of the route that excludes the Hillsnacks or Sterkfontein climbs and cuts out the dangerous Brandvlei Road.

The route goes into the Cradle, via Malibongwe and a left turn onto Elandsdrift Road, left into Beyers Naude and immediately right into the R374 which runs past the Avianto Lodge. At the Rhino and Lion Park traffic circle, the route takes the first exit and then turns right at the Kromdraai cash store linking up with the Hekpoort Road and a clock-wise loop past Maropeng, returning via the Magaliesberg Road.

Back onto Hekpoort Road, briefly before heading onto Hendrik Potgieter extension (N14) at the Engen garage and then a left turn at Letamo Estate, to meet up with the in-bound route at the Kromdraai Cash store. The final stretch uses the same route as the start, to get back to the race village, in the opposite direction.
